The battle within
Congratulations on your new journey with Christ! This is the most important decision you will ever make, and heaven is rejoicing with you! As you begin this walk, know that God is with you every step of the way.
Here are some Tips!
1. Start by spending time in His Word—reading the Bible will help you grow in your faith and understand God’s heart.
2. Prayer is another powerful way to build a personal relationship with Him; talk to God just as you would a close friend.
3. Surround yourself with other believers by joining a church (like us ;)) or small groups where you can be encouraged, strengthened, and authentically you.
4. Most importantly, trust in God’s love and grace—your journey won’t be perfect, but His mercy is new every morning. Keep seeking Him, and He will guide your steps. As Pastor Debbie always says, you are SO loved!
Other things to keep in mind!
1. Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
The world will pull you in many directions, but your foundation is in Christ (Hebrews 12:2). When doubts, temptations, or struggles arise, stay focused on Him through prayer, worship, and scripture.
2. Be Ready for Spiritual Battles
Now that you belong to Christ, the enemy (Satan) will try to discourage and distract you (Ephesians 6:12). Guard your heart and mind with the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), and don’t let setbacks shake your faith.
3. Stand Firm in Truth
The world has many opinions, but God’s Word is your foundation (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Stay rooted in scripture so you can discern truth from deception and make choices that honor God.
4. Live Out Your Faith in Love
Being a Christian isn’t just about what you know—it’s about how you live. Show love, kindness, and humility to those around you (John 13:34-35). Your life may be the only “Bible” some people read!
5. Expect to Be Different
Following Jesus means you won’t always fit in with the world’s values (Romans 12:2). Some friends or family may not understand your faith, but don’t be discouraged—God will give you strength and new, godly friendships.
6. Share Your Faith Boldly
Jesus calls us to share the Good News (Matthew 28:19-20). You don’t have to be a preacher—just share your testimony, live out your faith, and let God use you to point others to Him.
7. Stay in Community
You will need support! Stay connected to a church, Bible study, or Christian friends who can encourage and strengthen you (Hebrews 10:24-25).
8. Trust the Process
You won’t be perfect, and that’s okay. When you stumble, don’t give up—repent, ask for God’s help, and keep going (Philippians 1:6). He is faithful to complete the work He started in you!
Above all, remember that you are deeply loved by God and that He is with you every step of the way. You are never alone. Go out with boldness, faith, and joy, knowing that you belong to Christ!
